Lift has several modules that are not exclusivly for use in servlet based applications - one of those is lift-amqp which is a Scala wrapper around the popular RabbitMQ implementation. This article discusses the general design of the module and how you can use it with your own RabbitMQ brokers and features a screencast showing the working application for which you can download the full source code.
